AVOCADO

Ingredients

Instructions
Avocados are often wrongly avoided by people with high cholesterol. Like other fruit and vegetables, they contain no cholesterol, but, at 20-25 percent fat, they are high in fat, although their fat is mainly monounsaturated, a type not considered to raise blood cholesterol levels. The high fat content of avocados makes them somewhat fattening and so they should be eaten sparingly by anyone with a weight problem. Half an avocado supplies 1070 kilojoules (255 calories), which is equivalent to three or four slices of bread. So enjoy them with lemon juice, freshly ground pepper and crusty bread, but don't overindulge! You might like to try this creamy sauce. Place an avocado, a banana, a little honey and fruit juice, in a food processor or blender and process to make sauce of pouring consistency. Serve this delicious sauce with fresh fruit salad in place of cream or ice cream. Avocado is also perfect sliced and tossed through a green salad.
