  • EMERGENCY BIRTH CONTROL METHOD
  • Emergency contraceptive procedures (ECPs) are ways to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. ECP can be used when a condom breaks, after a sexual assault or any time unprotected sexual intercourse occurs. A woman does not become pregnant until 5-7 days after intercourse. ECPs work after a woman has intercourse but before she becomes pregnant. ECPs cannot terminate a pregnancy that has already begun. Do not use emergency contraceptives as your only protection against pregnancy if you are sexually active or planning to be, because they are not nearly as effective as any ongoing contraceptive method. Emergency contraceptives available in the United States include:
  • ENTEROBACTERIAL INFECTIONS
  • Enterobacterial infections are disorders of the digestive tract and other organ systems produced by a group of gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria called Enterobacteriaceae. Gram-negative means that the organisms do not retain the violet color of the dye used to make Gram stains. The most troublesome organism in this group is Escherichia coli. Other enterobacteria are species of Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, Proteus, and Yersinia.
  • ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION MEDICATIONS : FQAs
  • A satisfying sexual life is an important part of who you are and your relationship with your partner. If you are having trouble in the bedroom and you are distressed because of it, talk to your doctor. You are not the first person to ask your doctor about ED, and most men with ED are successfully treated.
  • EXERCISE: AN RX FOR MENOPAUSE COMPLAINTS
  • For many women who reach menopause, questions about hormonal replacement therapy often loom as large as worries about hot flashes. But wait. Is there a natural alternative?
  • EYE GLASSES AND CONTACT LENSES
  • Eyeglasses and contact lenses are devices that correct refractive errors in vision. Eyeglass lenses are mounted in frames worn on the face, sitting mostly on the ears and nose, so that the lenses are positioned in front of the eyes. Contact lenses appear to be worn in direct contact with the cornea, but they actually float on a layer of tears that separates them from the cornea.
  • FACTS ABOUT VASECTOMY
  • Each year, nearly 500,000 men in the United States choose to get a vasectomy. Their reasons vary. Most have completed their families or do not want to have children. Vasectomy, a surgical operation that makes men sterile (unable to father a child), is the most common method of permanent birth control for men. One out of every six men older than 35 has had a vasectomy. Among married couples in the United States, only female sterilization and oral contraception are relied upon more often for family planning. Vasectomy is a simple, low-risk procedure that doesn't limit sexual pleasure, and it's nearly 100 percent effective. While you and your partner will not need any contraceptive afterward to prevent pregnancy, a vasectomy does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
  • FAILURE TO THRIVE
  • Failure to thrive (FTT) is used to describe a delay in a child's growth or development. It is usually applied to infants and children up to two years of age who do not gain or maintain weight as they should. Failure to thrive is not a specific disease, but rather a cluster of symptoms which may come from a variety of sources.
  • FAINTING
  • Fainting is loss of consciousness caused by a temporary lack of oxygen to the brain. Known by the medical term "syncope," fainting may be preceded by dizziness, nausea, or a feeling of extreme weakness.
